“There’s a flood, but the bathroom is fine—it’s no big deal.”
Claudia lives in a community in Mexico surrounded by rivers, where she lives with her entire family and
grows tomatoes. For years, every time the water level in the lagoon rose, they were left without a bathroom. “It was such a struggle,” she recalls, explaining that in the past, when there was no other option, they had to make a bag for the children to use when they needed to go to the bathroom. But when the water rose, everything ended up in the river.
Thanks to the Softys Contigo project, Claudia and her family now have a decent bathroom that remains functional even during floods. They no longer have to worry about what once seemed inevitable.
