Las tres figuras del tenis compartieron junto a un grupo de alumnos del asentamiento Granadillas IV, donde la organización TECHO trabaja junto a la comunidad.
En el campamento “Granadilla 4” de Viña del Mar, con la ciudad de fondo, Royal Guard Open Chile y TECHO organizaron un espacio en medio del torneo 2014. En el evento niños, niñas y jóvenes del asentamiento compartieron con el presidente del torneo, Jaime Fillol, quien llegó acompañado del tenista colombiano Santiago Giraldo y el jugador chileno, Nicolás Jarry.
El asentamiento, que aprovechó de inaugurar su espacio comunitario, reúne a 54 familias, que disfrutaron y se divirtieron con las actividades propuestas por el equipo de profesionales, a través de ejercicios de iniciación al tenis.
“Fue una actividad gracias a una alianza entre TECHO y Royal Guard Open Chile. Esta unión nos ha permitido a los tenistas venir a sectores que tal vez no conocíamos y que nos ayudan a comunicar y aportar a la sociedad. Fue una linda mañana, padres, niños, todos participaron de alguna manera”, relató Jaime Fillol una vez terminada la actividad, que agrupó a cerca de 20 niños.
Santiago Giraldo, número 71 en el Ranking Emirates ATP agradeció el cariño de los participantes de la clínica. “Creo que los deportistas tenemos un deber, de poder colaborar. Somos de Sudamérica, donde hay muchas dificultades y mucho por hacer, así que me siento orgulloso de poder contribuir con esta gran labor”, dijo previo a su partido de cuartos de final del campeonato.
Jorge Barrientos, dirigente del campamento, agradeció a los jugadores y a los organizadores de la actividad. “En “Granadilla 4” llevamos catorce años trabajando en conjunto. Esta actividad es un gran logro para nosotros. De verdad estamos felices que desde la ATP vengan a compartir con la juventud del campamento”, señaló.
“Este espacio nos permite acercar la problemática de la pobreza a una gran plataforma, para comunicar que el jugársela por cambiar la realidad de desigualdad y pobreza en la que viven muchas familias es un partido que debemos jugar todos”, agregó el director social de TECHO, Agustín Wolff.

Santiago Giraldo, 71st in the ATP Emirates Ranking, thanked the affection of the participants of the clinic. “As athletes, we have the duty to collaborate. We are from South America, where there are many difficulties and much to do, so I’m proud to contribute to this great work,” said Giraldo before his quarter-final match of the championship.
Jorge Barrientos, leader of the settlement, thanked the players and the organizers of the activity. “We have been working together for fourteen years with “Granadilla 4”.
