Con ponentes de Asia, Latinoamérica, África, el pasado 7 de diciembre, TECHO se unió a la conmemoración del décimo aniversario del Centro de estudios Abdul Latif Jameel, en su evento, J-PAL TEN. A través de una serie de exposiciones, el centro de estudios conmemoró una década, más de 400 proyectos en 55 países,con investigaciones enfocadas en la superación de la pobreza.
El Capellán de TECHO, Juan Cristóbal Beytía, participó dentro de los ponentes que acompañaron la celebración en el en Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). La investigación, acerca del programa de construccón de viviendas de emergencia que J-PAL realizó junto a TECHO en El Salvador, Uruguay y México se sumó a la presentación de otras ponencias en áreas tan diversas como agricultura, educación, energía y medio ambiente, finanzas, salud, entre otras materias.
Beytía expuso frente a la audiencia algunos de los resultados y cómo refuerza el modelo que la institución lleva hoy en los asentamientos con los que trabaja. «»A lo largo de todo el proceso, buscamos soluciones creativas, pues creemos que las familias tienen un rol fundamental generando propuestas. Ellos mismos son los más creativos si los escuchas. En los espacios que generamos junto a los voluntarios, comparten sus perspectivas y prioridades comunitarias»», explicó durante la ponencia»».

Together with speakers from Asia, Latin-American and Africa, on December 7th, TECHO joined the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab, with the J-PALTEN event. With expositions, the center commemorated more than 400 projects in 55 different countries, with research aimed at eradicating poverty.
The Chaplain of TECHO, Juan Cristobal Beytía, was one of the speakers who participated in the celebration in the Massachussetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The research about the program for the construction of emergency houses that J-PAL made together with TECHO in El Salvador, Uruguay y Mexico joined the rest of the presentations made in several different fields, sush as agriculture, education, energy, health, and so on.
Beytía stated to the audience some of the results of the model that the institution carries out nowadays in the settlements it works on. “All along the process, we look for creative solutions, because we believe that the families have an important role, generating ideas”. They are the most creative ones, if you listen to them. In the space that we generate with the volunteers, they share their expectations and social priorities”, he said in the conference.
