En un esfuerzo para aportar al trabajo que TECHO realiza junto a voluntarios y pobladores en los asentamientos América Latina, tenistas del ranking mundial apoyaron el exclusivo y esperado coctel de recaudación de fondos BreakPoint NY, un eventoliderado por la organización de la sociedad civil anoche, en Novecento NY.
TECHO invitó a más de 10 tenistas de alrededor del mundo a donar artículos que fueron subastados por empresarios y líderes de la comunidad de Nueva York durante una noche inolvidable.
«»Sabíamos que para mostrarle al mundo entero lo que está sucediendo en Latinoamérica, teníamos que traer BreakPoint a Nueva York «», explicó el CEO de TECHO- U.S., Nicolás Berardi. «»Se dice que los grandes sueños se logran cumplir en Nueva York. TECHO llegó para convertir el sueño de superar la pobreza en una realidad”.
Entre los tenistas que se sumaron a la lucha contra la pobreza en esta 6 ª edición de BreakPoint se encontraban Rafael Nadal (España, actual Nº2 del mundo), María Sharapova (Rusia, actual Nº3 del mundo), John McEnroe y Jim Courier (Estados Unidos, antes Nº1 del mundo), Willy Cañas (Argentina, entre los 10 mejores jugadores del mundo durante su carrera) y Juan “Pico” Mónaco (Argentina).
BreakPoint fue patrocinado por el banco Macquarie y Novecento y contó con la asistencia de alrededor de 100 invitados. Según datos preliminares, se recaudaron más de USD 70.000 en fondos que se utilizarán para promover el desarrollo comunitario, especialmente con la construcción de viviendas de emergencia para familias que viven en asentamientos (35 viviendas de emergencia en toda América Latina).
El evento culminó con una emocionante subasta de artículos como clases de tenis con cada uno de los tenistas que apoyó el evento, la remera de Rafael Nadal y la raqueta de María Sharapova, y un paquete de Wimbledon Premium de un viaje para 2 personas para el Grand Slam Tennis Tour.
Ediciones anteriores de BreakPoint han contado con el apoyo de jugadores como Andy Murray (Escocia, actual Nº3 del mundo), Juan Carlos Ferrero (España, antes Nº1 del mundo), David Nalbandian (Argentina, antes Nº3 del mundo), el dúo argentino Paola Suárez y Gisela Dulko, Fernando González (Chile), Santiago Giraldo (Colombia) y Alejandro Falla (Colombia).

TECHO invited more than 10 tennis players from all around the world to donate articles for auction by entrepreneurs and liders of the New York community in an unforgettable night.
“We knew that to show the world what is happening in Latin America, we have to bring BreakPoint to New York”, explained the CEO of THECHO- U.S, Nicolás Berardi. “Everyone says that big dreams come true in New York. TECHO came to make all the dreams of eradicating poverty true”.
The tennis players that participated in the fight against poverty in this 6th edition of BreakPoint, were Rafael Nadal (España, current Nº2 of the world), María Sharapova (Rusia, current Nº3 of the world), John McEnroe y Jim Courier (United States, was Nº1 of the world), Willy Cañas (Argentina, in the 10 best player of the world during hes career) y Juan “Pico” Mónaco (Argentina).
BreakPoint was sponsored by Mcquarie y Novenceto Banks, and counted with 100 guests. Preliminary results show that the auction raised more than USD 70.000 that are going to be used to promote community development, and the construction of emergency houses for the families living in settlements (35 emergency houses in all Latin America).
The event finished with an exciting auction, including tennis lessons from the tennis players that support the cause, the t shirt of Rafael Nadal, the racket of María Sharapova and Premium trip for two to the Grand Slam Tennis Tour in Wimbledon.
