TECHO the Corporate Volunteering Observatory in Latin America

With the aim of gathering information on companies’ involvement in civil society through corporate volunteering in Latin America, the Corporate Volunteering Observatory is expanding its scope to Latin America in this fifth edition. This research seeks to develop a tool that will help guide companies and NGOs in making strategic decisions about their programs.

The project involves a voluntary survey, so that anyone interested in participating can submit their data by July 15. So far, 420 companies have participated, and all Spanish and Latin American NGOs are invited to take part in this new edition by completing the survey. The quantitative analysis will form the first part of the report.

The Corporate Volunteering Observatory is led by Cooperación Internacional, ONG, IBERDROLA, and Voluntare. TECHO, as an organization that mobilizes thousands of corporate volunteers each year, has joined the network to contribute to the collection and analysis of data.

Beyond facts and figures, the study will also include a qualitative approach to the analysis. This will be based on a series of working sessions to be held with companies and NGOs in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Spain, and Mexico. To guide the direction of the report, an Advisory Committee has been formed, composed of companies, NGOs, and other leading institutions in the field of corporate volunteering.

Its members include: the companies IBERDROLA and Cemex; the platforms for strengthening and promoting volunteerism—the Mexican Volunteer Alliance (AMEVOL) and the São Paulo Volunteer Center (CVSP); the business association Club de Excelencia en Sostenibilidad, the global corporate volunteering network Voluntare, the CSR-focused publication Corresponsables, the IAE Business School, Austral University—which is responsible for the academic coordination of the report—and the NGOs Techo Cooperación Internacional.

This study is intended to serve as a useful guide and resource for developing corporate volunteerism and understanding the extent to which companies integrate it into their strategic priorities and link it to the achievement of the SDGs.
